At the request of the Solomon Islands Government, Australia is supporting Solomon Islands – as Forum host and Chair of the upcoming 2025 Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting – with funding for essential road repairs and climate-friendly upgrades to public infrastructure around Honiara.

The new Buala Market has been designed in consultation with vendors and the local community to create an inclusive, accessible space for over 150 vendors. The new market will improve economic opportunities for women, people with disabilities and the broader community.

Australia is listening and responding to Solomon Islands priorities – investing in road transport infrastructure to boost economic opportunities for local businesses and create jobs for the people of Solomon Islands.   Together with the Minister for Infrastructure Development, Hon Ricky Fuo’o, Australia’s Minister for Pacific Islands Affairs, The Hon Pat Conroy MP, has announced Australia will provide SBD60 million (AUD11 million) to upgrade the Solomon Islands National Roads Network.
